  • Let me pick your brain please - draft gurus

As I'm learning draft skills more and more from gurus here especially this season, I think I'm still far from average. I want to bring this here to learn from the experts.

I have an opportunity to draft a star WR (I think) in another league but am not sure who should I pick. Below are three WRs "I think" would be great. Please share who do you think is the best and worst and why?

I like #2 Lincoln Reid especially his 40-dash. Should I concern about his development # (only 16%)?

Thanks in advance for your sharing.

Reid, Eatherton, then Ward, in that order.

        What they said.

But the 2nd runner up in this beauty pageant is still gonna be smokin hot.

Thanks for the reply. Some more questions,

          1. Are we looking at quite a bit of difference or they'll end up pretty close (maybe other than #2). I mean will you predict like #2 -> 90ish then #3 & #1 ->70ish?

          2. For #1 & #3, how do you decide who is better than the other?

          3. Is #3's GD masked? How to determine if it's masked or not? Are other physical bars (BPR, Adj, Crg, AD, 3-down) the hint?

          4. Is #1's 3-down bar a concern? How does that affect us to determine masked pairs and other physical bars?

Reid is the clear #1, I am not as convinced that Eatherton is the clear #2. Did you interview?

I have not interviewed but I am seeing Eatherton with a slightly lower big play bar and you are right to have questions about Eatherton's getting downfield. I would want to see the interview, see how the big play bars narrow and go from there. Eatherton might gain a bit in getting downfield but his endurance is already high and that is the usual pair.

From the same draft, I wanted to illustrate how combine drafting can be misleading. Granted these two guys are both going to be starters but if you went purely by combines, you would pick the worse one of the two:

              http://www.bigleaguesports.net/blpf/...p?player_id=27

Also, % developed is no indication of a player's skill. It only indicates how ready a player is for prime time.

Yeah Chuck, they were interviewed. Can't you see that. Get with the program... or get some glasses.

Yeah, even after you said the interview was there I could still barely see it. I guess I do need glasses.

I stand by what I said before, I don't think it is clear who is better between Eatherton and Ward. Eatherton is going to be middling in getting downfield and endurance. Ward seems like he could be the better choice. Still, Eatherton is the safer pick.

Yeah, sorry I pulled the move up to get Reid. I ended up interviewing him and Ward after trade talks started. I can tell you I had Ward as O, so I would say everyone seems right and Eatherton is the next best guy.

I know you most likely would pick Reid when I saw the trade. I am still happy to get Eatherton. Should have pretty good pass offense this season
